Built for the way mobile bartending pros actually quote

  • Quoting BYOB vs full-bar packages with different liability profiles
  • Forgetting setup/breakdown time outside guest-facing hours
  • State ABC/licensing rules differ — confusion over what can be charged
  • Tip line treated as obligatory vs optional inconsistently
  • Glassware + ice + mixers — host vs bartender supply confusion

Frequently asked

How much does a mobile bartender cost?

US 2026 public estimates vary widely: basic private-party bartending can be a few hundred dollars for a short event, while staffed wedding and full-service bar packages often run roughly $500–$1500+ depending on guests, hours, equipment, and alcohol scope.

Do I need an ABC license to bartend at a private event?

Most states require an ABC permit when serving alcohol the bartender supplies. BYOB events (host provides alcohol) usually do NOT require a vendor ABC license — but rules vary by state. ALWAYS verify with your state ABC board before quoting. Quotably is a quoting tool, not a licensing service.

BYOB vs full-service bar pricing?

BYOB = labor only ($350–$600 typical). Limited bar = +15% (beer/wine + 1 signature, you stock). Full bar = +35% (cocktails + spirits, you stock + price liquor separately).

Should I charge a separate setup + breakdown fee?

Itemize 30–60 min setup and 30 min breakdown as labor at $65–$85/hr. Hosts who see line items understand the cost of presentation.

Who provides the glassware?

Default to host. Offer glassware rental + delivery as a $90–$150 add-on. Specify cocktail glasses vs all-purpose tumblers.

Tips: included or optional?

Best practice: disclose any service charge or gratuity policy at booking. Many event bartenders use a 10–20% service charge or allow optional tips, but never assume — write it in the quote.

Liability + insurance for mobile bartending?

Carry liquor liability insurance ($300–$800/year for ~$1M coverage). Some venues require COI naming them as additional insured. Quote your insurance pass-through as a $25–$50 admin fee per event.

Do I need food handler permits as a bartender?

Depends on state and county. Most states require an Alcohol Server / ABC card (TIPS or ServSafe Alcohol). Some require a separate food handler card if you serve garnishes. Verify with your state ABC board.
